52-year-old Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping His Niece in Dennilton
A 52-year-old suspect made a brief appearance before the Moutse Magistrate’s Court on January 27 after he allegedly raped his 39-year-old niece.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at approximately 17:00 in Ntoane village, under the Dennilton policing area in the Sekhukhune District.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said that, according to a preliminary report, the complainant was walking home when she encountered her uncle, who asked her to accompany him to a local tavern.
“After their drinking session, they decided to return home, but along the way the suspect became aggressive. He dragged her to the side of the road, strangled her, and raped her,” said Ledwaba.

He added that the suspect then left the victim at the scene. The victim reported the incident to the police, and a case of rape was opened at Dennilton Police Station.
“Members of Crime Prevention launched an extensive search, leading to the arrest of the suspect the same night,” Ledwaba added.
Ledwaba concluded that the case has since been transferred to the Groblersdal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigation.
