Club captain and goalkeeper Brandon Petersen believes the preparations have left the squad in a strong position heading into their first outing.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Petersen said the players had embraced the new coaching methods and were eager to put their work into practice.
“You return for pre-season excited and looking forward to the new season. Pre-season was good, we enjoyed our time in Spain and I think it was a good trip for us,” Petersen said.
“Now we’re back in South Africa preparing for this weekend’s Toyota Cup. The guys are in high spirits, we’re looking forward to it and excited to get the ground running. So far, the players have responded well to the coach’s philosophy and we’re looking forward to putting it on display for everyone to see.”

Chiefs will be aiming to build momentum ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign.
Although Amakhosi finished third in last season’s Betway Premiership, they were unable to add any silverware to their trophy cabinet. However, their league finish secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup, ensuring a packed fixture list in the months ahead.
In addition to continental football, Chiefs will compete in the Betway Premiership, MTN8, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup, meaning the club will challenge for honours across five competitions.
