“It’s a cup that we have won many times, but it doesn’t have any bearing on tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new match, we’re focussing on the match tomorrow,” Ncikazi told Pirates media.
“We just want to go into the next stage. We know it’s not going to be easy, but I think we have the capacity to move into the next round.”
His comments underline the mindset required from Pirates as they attempt to add another MTN8 trophy to their collection.
Pirates arrive with early-season confidence
The Buccaneers have already provided an indication that they are ready for another demanding campaign.
Pirates opened their Betway Premiership season with a 2–0 victory over newly promoted Milford last weekend, giving them momentum heading into their first MTN8 assignment.
That result will provide encouragement as they prepare to face a Durban City side that represents a very different proposition from their opening league opponent.
Durban City aiming for another upset
Durban City enter the quarter-final looking to bounce back from a disappointing start to their Betway Premiership campaign.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to Sekhukhune United in their opening league fixture and will now have the opportunity to make an immediate statement in cup competition.
