Chiefs vs Galaxy: Can Amakhosi Finally End Four-Year Hoodoo?
Kaizer Chiefs may be building momentum in the Betway Premiership, but a familiar obstacle stands in their way – a TS Galaxy side that has consistently frustrated them in recent years.
Amakhosi return to action at the FNB Stadium, where they host Galaxy in a league clash kicking off at 3:00pm. While recent form suggests Chiefs should be favourites, history – and recent cup developments – tell a more complex story.
Kaizer Chiefs come into the match on the back of three consecutive victories across competitions, a run that has reignited belief within the squad and strengthened their push for a top finish.
They currently sit third on the Betway Premiership table with 39 points from 21 matches, firmly in contention for continental qualification.
Despite Chiefs’ resurgence, TS Galaxy remain a stubborn opponent.
Amakhosi have not beaten Galaxy in the league since June 2021. Across the last nine Betway Premiership meetings, Galaxy have secured one win, while eight matches have ended in draws – a run that continues to frustrate the Soweto giants.
The reverse fixture earlier this season ended goalless, extending that trend.

While Galaxy’s league form has been underwhelming, their performances in cup competition tell a different story.
The Rockets have booked their place in the 2026 Nedbank Cup final after defeating Milford FC 4–3 on penalties following a 1–1 draw after extra time in their semi-final clash at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on April 5, 2026.
However, that cup success contrasts sharply with their Betway Premiership campaign. Galaxy are currently 12th on the table with 25 points from 23 matches, highlighting their inconsistency in league action.
With Chiefs chasing consistency near the top of the table and Galaxy aiming to translate cup momentum into league form, this encounter could prove pivotal for both sides.
For Amakhosi, the objective is clear: extend their winning streak and finally break a hoodoo that has lingered for nearly four years. For Galaxy, it is another opportunity to defy expectations and maintain their psychological edge – while attempting to climb away from the lower half of the standings.
As kickoff approaches, the key question remains – will Chiefs finally overcome their Galaxy problem, or will the Rockets once again prove to be their most stubborn obstacle?
