Orlando Pirates Confirm Three New Signings as Squad Reshuffle Continues Ahead of 2026/27 Season

Orlando Pirates have stepped up their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign by unveiling three new signings while confirming several player departures as the club continues to reshape its squad during the transfer window.

Leading the trio is 20-year-old left-back Neo Rapoo, who joins Pirates from Siwelele FC.

Rapoo, a former SuperSport United academy product and South African youth international, is widely regarded as one of the country’s most promising young defenders. Comfortable both defensively and in attack, he arrives with a reputation for pace, energy and an ability to contribute in the final third.

Pirates have also secured the services of versatile defender Aphiwe Baliti from Siwelele FC. The 24-year-old is capable of operating on either flank of the defence, but the club has confirmed he will immediately return to Siwelele on a season-long loan to continue gaining valuable first-team experience.

The third addition is 23-year-old midfielder Matome Mmolai, who joins from Leicesterford City. Mmolai is expected to strengthen Pirates’ midfield options with his technical ability, composure in possession and creativity as the Buccaneers prepare for another demanding season.

Alongside the new arrivals, Pirates also confirmed several changes to the playing squad.

Midfielder Gomolemo Khoto and defender Siyabonga Ndlozi have completed permanent transfers to Sekhukhune United, while right-back Tshepho Mashiloane has rejoined Babina Noko on a season-long loan in a move designed to secure regular playing time.

The latest transfer activity signals the club’s intent to build a balanced squad capable of competing on multiple fronts during the upcoming campaign.

Away from the transfer market, on Friday Orlando Pirates confirmed that the first-team squad has returned from the off-season break and has officially resumed pre-season training.

The club will use the coming weeks to integrate its new signings, assess the squad and fine-tune preparations ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season.

Pirates Pay Tribute to Club Director’s Family

In a separate announcement, Pirates expressed their condolences to club director Franklin Chakane following the passing of his wife, who is set to be laid to rest on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers extended their sympathies to the Chakane family and called on supporters and the wider football community to keep them in their thoughts during this difficult time.

With three fresh faces arriving, key squad changes confirmed and pre-season preparations now in full swing, Orlando Pirates have officially begun laying the foundations for what they hope will be another successful campaign.
