Tashreeq Morris’ Kaizer Chiefs Future Uncertain Amid Limited Game Time
Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris finds himself at the centre of growing uncertainty as questions continue to surface about his role at the club beyond the current season, according to a report by Soccer Laduma.
The 2025/26 campaign has been a frustrating one for the experienced forward, who has struggled for opportunities in a Chiefs side still assessing its long-term squad composition. Morris has featured in just one competitive match this season, a lack of involvement that has inevitably fuelled speculation around his future at Naturena as the January transfer window progresses.
Adding to the uncertainty, Morris’ agent, Glyn Binkin, has revealed that there has been no formal communication from the club regarding either a contract extension or alternative plans for the player.
“Tashreeq (Morris). We haven’t heard yet from Chiefs as to what they would like to do,” Binkin told Soccer Laduma.
“You know. So, I’m sure that discussion will take place in the coming days, I’m sure.”
Morris is no stranger to the Premier Soccer League, having built a reputation as a physical and hardworking striker across several clubs. Over the years, he has represented Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United, offering experience and a strong presence in the attacking third wherever he has gone.

However, with competition for places intensifying at Chiefs and the club expected to review several player contracts in the coming weeks, it remains unclear whether that experience still fits into the technical team’s plans moving forward. Chiefs are understood to be at a critical stage of evaluating their squad as they prepare for the next campaign, with decisions likely to impact both incoming and outgoing players.
From a broader perspective, Morris’ situation also raises questions about his value in the current transfer market. According to transfermarkt.co.za, the striker’s market value is estimated at €200,000, which translates to approximately R3.8 million. This valuation could make him an accessible option for clubs in need of an experienced PSL forward, should Chiefs decide to part ways.
With the season approaching its latter stages and the transfer window in focus, clarity on Morris’ future is expected sooner rather than later. Whether he remains part of Kaizer Chiefs’ plans or seeks a new challenge elsewhere will depend on discussions that, according to his agent, are still yet to take place.
