Motetema Authorities Launch Manhunt for Trio Responsible For Murder At Local Tavern
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged the police in Motetema to utilise all resources at their disposal to apprehend suspects involved in a deadly shooting.
This comes after one patron was shot at a tavern in the wee hours of Saturday, January 17, in Manapyane village, Motetema policing area, Sekhukhune district.
In a statement, Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashava said that, according to their preliminary report, about three armed male suspects wearing balaclavas entered the tavern and went straight to the patron (victim).
“Without uttering a word, they started shooting at the victim, and he quickly ran for cover behind the counter. They followed him and shot him multiple times. The suspects fled the scene using a white Toyota Quantum with an unknown registration number,” said Mashaba.

He said other patrons then took the victim to a local clinic, where he was certified dead upon arrival due to injuries sustained during the shooting ordeal.
“The deceased was [later] identified as Shima Mafogo, 33 years old,” he added.
The motive behind the shooting incident is unknown at this stage, while the investigation continues.
